Sooo im not sure if anyone has an answer for this locally but i have a 3.5 inch maf from a 540i, and i wanted to use it in my 520i, problem is my 520i maf is a 5 pin vs the 540 maf which is 4 pin, i believe the obd-ll uses the 4 pin and my 520i is pre obd-ll, is it possible to re wire to makethe 4 pin maf work?

I know someone who may have the correct MAF for you, if you want to buy it. It's brand new.

I didn't know this was the issue until I got my wideband and noticed the lean out when I started up in the morning!!, I want to upgrade my fuel pump as well as install my adj. fuel press. Reg. so I can up the boost!! , I have herd that the e34 has some issue with a demon like fuel pump which liked to have intermediate issues, anyone agree that it could be the fuel pump?

soo I found a 803 maf, but its for an obdII conversion and I have a 800 maf which is used for obd1 upgrade but mine isn't the same as the vanos m50, which means mine has a 6 pin maf instead of a 4 pin looked but cant find any info on it :/

edit: looooked quickly and found that a four pin maf simply might not work with my car

I literally just went through all 25 pages. This is so relevant to my interests since I have a m50b20 as well, and I've been thinking lately that I need more powa.

I drove my friend's 24v vr6 corrado the other day and when I got back in my 2.0, it felt like I had an hairdryer in there lol.

Going turbo looks like a cool project too!

If u do decied to boost your car, contact comp turbo about a smaller trim turbo then the .58 one from tcd... tcd is pretty much the middle man between us and comp turbo soo no need to go there except for their manifold!!, i would say ask comp turbo if they can do a custom turbo like a t4, on center .48 trim turbo imo that would be ideal for our 2.0L

BTW!!..... IS YOUR CAR AIR COND.?

Great!! How much did this project cost you so far? I'll most likely begin a project like this in a while though since I'm leaving the country for 6 months - 1 year next winter... but I could start planning it slowly! I'm also debating if swapping the engine would be most cost effective/reliable...

Yep I have air cond !

aghhhh luckily for you its easy to find an upgraded clutch, wierdly bmw decieded to use a different trans for air cond, vs non a/c which sucks cuz almost every e34 and e36 came with a/c also i think im in about 1500 - 2000 bucks for the setup not including the suspension or brakes just engine parts and turbo stuff

honestly its hard to get alot of ooomph out of these little 2.0's and a larger m50b25 is a fairly easy swap cuz the blocks are exactly the same size and attach to the trans perfectly

wanna have real fun? m30 turbo ur e36!! low comp motor on stock internals can handle like 12-13 psi with a good tune, swap the h.g. and studs get maybe 15 ish then u will have lots of fun

Damn! You still have the stock clutch then? Can it handle the additionnal power?

2000 bucks is really good, I would have expected much more honestly! But yep! I was also considering the m50b25, they seem like a good base for tuning and a fairly easy swap. I could also strip it down and detail/rebuild it before the swap, which is great. I'd love to have an engine to work on on my spare time.

And about that m30 turbo, that sounds insane lol, has it been done before? Kinda funny to put an older engine in a newer car :p

The M30 probably won't fit, the front will sit too high and hit the hood.
It's a step in the wrong direction anyway. Plenty of boosted M50's out there making 300+whp with a measly 10psi on a stock motor.

its doesnt handle i twelll but its also worn fairly well....

the only good thing with the older engine is the low comp. and the large displacement, which allows for great spoooooooling
