Got her running nice and smooth on 42LB injectors. There is some thing's that need to be done and then will go back to the tune.

Reminder: Oil restrictor, Boost Leak down test , video of AFR, Boost , RPM

Thanks

Oil restrictor is easy.

Go to ottawa fastener, to the metric fine section and find a bolt that threads into your oil inlet port. You'll find that its threaded on the inside for some reason. (Nearly all are.) Usually nothing screws into this as the oil inlet port bolts OUTSIDE it.. so buy a bolt that fits it in the hole, cut it and cut a slot on the face so you can screw it in with a flat head.

Then drill a small hole in it.

Done!

I'm hoping with the restrictor in place the oil pressure will be diverted back to the head. After high rpm pulls the head ticks SO LOUD and then calms down after a few minutes of idling. The oil pump is probably on it's last leg's too.

With all the oil channels in a head, I don't think that the 1/4" line going to the turbo will make a difference to the overall pressure.

If that's the problem, get an oil pressure gauge. Should have one anyway! The turbo should only have an oil restrictor if it specifically calls for one.. Ask Todd at TCD if that's the case.

is it possible that my oil is foaming up? i dont have the oil return set up the "proper" way soo instead of the oil draining onto the top of the oil in the pan its returning into the side of the oil pan, possible issue?

and since it only started ticking with the new turbo my conclusion is that the old turbo didnt spool enough to make the oil foam, but as soon as i replaced the turbo for the smaller one, it ticked from the beginning! , i have another oil pan that im gunna remove from my other 520i sooo ill get a proper oil return bung welded in

oh btw... i have a oil pressure gauge but its not working i figure its not wired properly , lights up and everything but doesnt recieve a signal from the sensor

Weird.. I can't see that being the problem, but you never know. *something's* causing it. :/

yaa its wierd, with my old turbo it never ticked..... i swapped it, ticked after first pull, ive tried different oil weights from 10-30 to 20-50, with the thicker oil, it ticks alot more, thinner oil doesnt tick as much but still ticks

cruising in the gatineau hills yesterday, of course not going any faster then the sped limit , it was ticking like crazy when i got to the bottom pulled into the gas staion to wait for a friend who i guess was going the speed limit, i mean..... slower then the speed limit, and the ticking went away :/

It's the high temperature or you are low on oil.Make sure you run a 80 deg thermostat, if you run the 89 the engine will be at least 10 deg hotter and then don't run 5w30 oil in it, run the hot side of the oil thicker like 40 or 50.In less words your head runs very hot after puls

my car runs pretty cool, never reaches mid point on the stock coolant temp gauge, and even with thick oil it ticked worse then with thin, I can try adding some oil but the level seems fine
