This Brings Back Memories...

I found some pictures of my first E30 so I thought I would post them up.

1992 BMW 325iC

I bought this car in 2003 and owned it until 2005. Before this car I was driving a 2000 Hyundai Accent. It was the first car that I owned that was anything more then a worthless beater. Despite loving old cars, I wanted something reliable that I wouldn't have to worry about. While I owned the Hyundai my Dad was driving a 1990 325i and even though I wanted one I thought that reliability was more important.

Eventually I got tired of driving a beige car (not literally it was actually silver) and always having the lamest car wherever I went so I sold it.

I went car-less for the entire summer as I searched for an E30. I eventually found this car and jumped on it. I was pretty desperate and tired of searching so I overlooked a lot of faults this car had. I knew they would come back to haunt me.

I still remember the day I picked it up. My Dad and I went to have a bite to eat in my new car and as soon as we got out of it someone came over and started saying how good it looked and how much they wanted one themselves. I felt good that day. 20 years old with a sweet BMW convertible. All was right in the world! For a while...

Reality set in pretty quickly unfortunately. With the car needing maintenance and the occasional (read: frequent) thing needing to be repaired the car started to wear me down.

This car left me stranded more times then I can remember! I was at the dealership so often buying parts that I had my VIN# memorized! And I still do!

One night I was driving by the Tim Hortons near Square One on a Friday or Saturday night. Had some friends with me, top down. The parking lot was full of nice cars and people were all hanging out in the parking lot as usual.

As I'm driving by my car decides to just die. No warning. Dead on the street with everyone watching. A guy with a tow truck happened to be there so he towed my car off the street for me... Into the Tim Hortons parking lot.

So embarrassing. Some douchebag even yelled out "Hey nice Benz!' to which I replied, "it's actually a BMW". His response: "Yeah whatever!".

With me not actually working on the car myself and with a shady mechanic doing my work for me I eventually got fed up with driving a "cool old car" and started to look for something newer. I ended up buying a 2003 Mini Cooper S but I won't bore you with "car mistake #2".

I sold the car to a guy who I'm pretty sure was a dealer/curb sider. The last time I checked it was registered to someone in St. Catherines and it just passed an e-test in March of this year.

There were definitely some good times as well and owning an E30 is always an adventure of some kind.

There were a couple E30's that I consistently saw around at that time. There was a guy with an early model Alpinweiss vert that I always saw at the Tim Hortons on Mavis and Central Parkway in Mississauga. And there was also a late model Delphin 325iS which I think was ABUSTAIF's old E30. Plate said "KASSAB" or something.

Does anyone remember seeing this car around about a decade ago? I would love to see how it looks today...

Nice vert... lightweight glove box latch and all. So now you're on what, 4th or 5th e30 now?

Blue Vert
The Shwartz
Delphin Vert
Miami Weiss

Am I missing one?

I think it was actually an uber rare CSL or LTW version because it also had a front lip delete too!

Yup, number 4! I think the 318iS is a keeper though. For a while at least.

I had big plans for it but once the rust started to show I gave up. The poor car had been neglected and it needed someone who was able to really put time and money into it.

Unfortunately that was not me.

It looked the same... front valence dinged up a bit... different rims.

I'm sure the wheel wrench is still available if I can figure out what model it's from.

Well I'm sure I'll see it around eventually. Maybe when it comes up for sale!
