the best thing i could say would be for you to find the vw guys in quebec that have dumped vw's and see where they got their cars done. they will obviously know someone that can saftey your vehicle

simple they bought the car already QC plated, no safety needed. We have civics burning 1L of oil per 100km with cut springs scraping the road and bouncing all over the place, but they dont need to safety. In QC you dont have to safety when you buy a car if its already plated in QC.

Yeah its an amazing law...

time is running out for me as am still debating my options trying to not loose to much money in the process.

1. Sell car complete safetied and appraised in Ontario (1 month (June) to sell it) for the right price

2. wait until I move to QC city and buy another QC plated E30 and transfer everything and sell the shell?!? or send to scrap (what a waste of a good rust free frame and title)

3. Part out and deal with selling part per part once in QC city.

4. Find the "guy" that can help me safety before leaving

5. take more time off from work that I really need for my move and take a chance and try to safety somewhere else.

more and more I think the more I just want to say F*ck it and deal with it all once over there...

I'd go for number 4. Just look around...it can't be that bad.

If you do number 2 you will likely have your self a buyer i.e. >>this guy<< but yeah man try to find a place that will allow it to pass safety, just search around the quebec forums and speak to guys. or try to find the HPA motorsports guys those are bunch of cool guys and some of their cars were not bought from QC but they now have them plated there wouldn't hurt to see if they have somebody who can do it

Ignore the problem for now, and take the car with you. Then you can:

- try again in QC
- if no, try to find a "guy" in QC
- if no, swap stuff
- if no, try to sell to ontario or another QC person who knows a guy
- if no, part out

This way all options are still on the table, only selling in ON is more difficult, the rest are the same or easier. I love logic puzzles BTW.

find ur self a cheap e30 that will pass saftey there and just swap the vins and keep ur car and use the other one for parts and when u wanna sell ur car put the old vins on it.

Denny I'm from Québec City as well. I think you should post on Montreal Racing in the 'general' section. Here's the link: http://www.montrealracing.com/forums/. I can guarantee you you'll get a response from someone who knows where to go or who knows of some garage which is more lenient. If not, I can probably find you one on the south shore of Québec City. I think I have a copy of what the inspection center verifies. Don't give up hope!

Martin thank you I got an account there...its worth a shot...anything at this point. Glad to see I wont be alone with an E30 once in QC city.
