that sounds very suspicious to me and rather isolated. have you ever seen the shit that comes out of Quebec especially Montreal. No offense to those who are from there. As the saying goes never buy a car from there. I would get a second opinion regarding this. What is deemed a "RACE CAR?" heck you get twin turbo bmw from the factory with 333 horsepower. would that be a race car? WTF? Go somewhere else. they are screwing with you. I don't buy that...all more reason I don't live there and don't want too.. those F***ing putts..

Oh I know what your saying...totally agree. I was in shock.... could not believe my ears. Sure my car is all manual but all is functional and working...its a preference I love having a car all manual (brakes, steering, etc..) its none of his f*cking business!! but apparently they decide.. that's what gets me. I will be making some phone calls tomorrow...

F*cking Quebec are always making up stupid laws as they go along... giving more power to these bitches to decide the faith of who gets to drive there and who doesn't...

Im not ready to give up even if I dont have much time...I love my car and invested a serious amount of money and labour..

I just got back from doing exactly that after a bit of disappointment here at home. It's amazing how getting sideways can change your perspective on things.

From what I can see online, perhaps something has changed since 2002, when I moved up to northern Quebec, Aube Pontiac did my inspection, I still have the slip in a box someplace.

Still according to the examples given on the ministry site it seems that all that might fail you are racing tires... stiff suspension, or removal of safety items.

Push comes to shove find a piece of crap for $500 someplace the same year and colour.

I'd go to another SAAQ place until you find one that will certify the car. Works case scenario, put in a weekend and drop in one of your non-FI M20 motors, stock suspension and a quiet muffler. You've put in too much work now to give up.

Have you considered a fake safety? Toss $100 to a mechanic and get him to safety your car. I've done it before, not cause the car wont pass safety or isnt safe on the road, but for the stupid stuff they fail you for. Its just quick and easy.

QC doesn't work the same way as Ontario. They have their own inspection agency, mechanics don't do the inspections.

What's really stupid is that once a car is QC plated, it never has to be done again. So there are loads of compile piles of shit on the road which risk people's lives every day. Completely asinine system. Maybe you should start a protest.

Problem is my car is all manual I would need to remove SC system completly, source and install new Power steering rack, pump, hoses..etc.. then install brake booster, source new brake pedal reinstall, then remove all suspension and source stock and install, source used oem steering wheel and the list goes on... rims, tires..etc... Im at the worst time for free time right now moving in few weeks, right now full in negotiation to buy a house , pack boxes, garage,,

- Because of how you did it, the SC system wouldn't be too hard to remove temporarily
- You can argue that manual steering racks are an OEM part on certain E30s
- All the other parts you can argue that the old parts needed to be replaced and OEM parts were hard to find so you installed what you have now instead.

Don't give up, I'm sure you'll be able find someone more reasonable that'll hook you up. And what about what Dice said? How are hot rods or custom built cars insured in Quebec?

The Sc wasnt even the big problem.... imagine my not low brand new suspension didnt bounce back like a lincoln so the suspension is too stiff....imagine....

Hot rods are crazy to safety every part is documented and sent to some paper pusher somewhere to approve....takes months apparantly... crazy f*cking system
