VERY VERY SAD DAY TODAY (need help)

Well today marks a very sad day for me May 24 a Day I will always remember...

For those that have followed my E30 blogs part 1 and 2 will know how much time and effort I have put in , in my 1987 325i.

I just came back from Quebec Safety (I'm moving from Ottawa to QC city) in July and I was told that my car could not be safetied in Quebec "Hi's exact words Sorry sir this is a race car... it turn like one,sounds like one, brakes like one, and accelerates like one"

My mouth dropped on the floor, for me its like I was stabbed across the heart multiple times...I'm so pissed off right now I have a lack of words to describe.

Here we have a car that has been completely restored with over 300 hours put into it...sweat and blood and loads of money. A unique Supercharged E30 classic (never accidented and very very clean frame).

I never tough I would even consider selling my E30...but my move to Quebec to be close with the family to help us with my 3 year old has destroyed my dream of one day giving this car to my son.

It is currently plated in Ontario and passed safety with flying color legally and no etest required also have a professional insurance credited appraisal at 9050$ last year (before Supercharger setup)

What should I do now? suggestions? (please no stupid jokes this is very serious) should I sell? how much?

That sucks!
I'd ask him to point to the clause in the highway traffic act that is preventing him from passing you.

They have a clause for modified vehicles that state whatever is not OEM they have the right to refuse any vehicle. All it takes is one asshole that hates on modified cars and its over... They have way too much power.

I'm still in shock...cant believe this is happening

I do a safety in Ontario and they are amazed at all the work and cleanness of my car, etc... I go to Quebec and my car is the devil's car...

keep car registered and insured in ontario with ontario plates using some friend/relative's address and drive it in quebec with ontario plates

I tough about that already...seemed like a good idea but I have no relatives in Ontario and for insurance its complicated.

This boggles my mind, man. My car was purchased out of Quebec and it was quite modified by the previous owner. I purchased it as a rolling shell, but even still, the guy I bought it from was able to reg it with an H&R Cup Kit on it.

It's not the best option, but what about "returning it to stock" for the time being? I realize how shitty this option is, but it's probably easier than gaming an insurance company in Ontario from Quebec (which I can see as your only other real option).

One last thing I guess... Is there an option for a second opinion? I mean, you could go buy an M3 today that would be superior to our E30's. Are they not considered race cars?

I know I hear stories like that too... hell "rusty" was a Quebec car..how did it pass safety I have no idea. You see some cars in the streets and wonder how the f*ck did that get safety..

Right now I have 0 option to return it to stock and recourse apparently (I don't have stock parts anymore and with less then a few weeks to pack and move 5 hours away I don't have that option anymore..) so I'm kind of stuck... this is a nightmare for me..

Get it appraised and insured as a classic or modified, if you have another primary vehicle and at least 10 years of clean driving.

Ever go to a car show? See all those things called Hot-Rods? They all drive down the road. Heck there was a 57 chev I seen last week was tubbed out with 2ft wide drag tires on it... and it's on the road. I seen a car that was pretty much hand made.

I passed inspection on my old e30, the backup light switch on the trans wasn't working so I rigged up a toggle for it on the dash and labeled it for the guys so they could test it. PASS. Needs to be original... whatever. That guy was just being an ass.

All I can suggest is dumb it down a bit, put some stock wheels on it or remove anything that stands out too much, then take it someplace else.

Thanks but I already have it appraised and insured in Ontario 100% no problems at all....

In Quebec they have their own rules...the goverment regulates what car goes on the road which one doesnt...they have too much power on there hands!! its rediculous...

It maybe an option I dont know...but the really sad part is the frame on this car has never been accidented and is pretty much rust free compared to a lot of them that I have seen. Every bolt on this car has been taken care of.

So far I got 3 options:

1) buy a 2 door for very cheap with a good non accidented body already plated in Quebec (transfer my whole car over) and sell the shell to somebody in ontario looking for a good shell.

2) sell the whole car to somebody that will appreciate the car and take care of it

3) part out every part and start over with another quebec already plated e30...

this is all I can think of right now....

More proof the Quebecanese are azzholes.

I'm sure you can make friends with someone that will overlook certain "requirements" and give you a safety certificate. All it takes is time.

Lived in Quebec for 4 years. My car passed at the pontiac dealer in Valdor. It even had a cracked windshield... although the crack technically wasn't in my field of view.

Just tame it down a bit and take it someplace else. Talk to some guys who have hotrods/modded cars out in Quebec, see where they go.

Pontiac dealer? in Quebec the safety are goverment done not dealership done by a mechanic like in ontario..am confused!?

Cant tame it down anymore then this...i dont have the parts or time...
