E34 TDS Touring

1992 BMW 525TDS Wagon

160K kms
Euro Import
2.5 Inline 6 - intercooled IDI with computer control
New front end last year when I bought it (12K ago) - 4 control arms, brakes, center link, tie-rods.
Grey leather interior
Silver/grey exterior
Averages 7L/100K.
New Behr radiator.
5 Speed Auto

Needs injection pump. I purchased a used one off Germany ebay, but it's dead as well. Included is special tool required for pump replacement. Car runs currently, but not properly. Very little rust, clean underneath. Clean interior. Location: 20 minutes west of Kitchener, Ontario. Selling as is. $3000 firm.

Good luck with sale. It's unfortunate that when most of these cars have injection pump issues they end up going to the scrap as the injection pump costs about as much as the car is worth, plus core.

Common fault with the injection pump on these is the position sensor. The used pump I purchased actually has a good one! This pump was tested good at some point, but sat on the shelf too long with test fluid in it. The test fluid turned to wax and gummed everything up. I swapped the position sensor into the original pump and re-installed. The car runs now, but the pump is out of calibration. The original pump ran, but would stall at idle due to the worn position sensor. It should be able to be fixed by any decent injection shop that is willing to work on it. VW pumps are usually around $1000 to rebuild.

If the car does not sell, I will take the pump to Germany with me for repair at some point. I have over $6k into it already. The car can likely be driven home - it was driven from Oshawa to home in its current state.

edit: I have the tool to hold the pump sprocket in place when changing the pump. I machined it by hand since it was not available here.

Thank you for all the inquires. I spent a few hours further looking at the car this week, and I suspect a head gasket issue is part of the problem.

Price remains firm, so NO I will not take less. If you are serious please inquire. I am more than happy to keep the car and fix it.
