Autobahn East! Great shop =)

I have had a spotty starter in my E36 for a while... it would engage sometimes and wouldn't others. Combined with a relative newbie at manual driving, it would cause some frustration when I stalled (3 failed starts before I could go, sometimes).

I got a used starter but had no idea about how hard the job would be. Looking it up on bimmerforums, here and pelican parts lead me to the conclusion that I should leave it to a shop. Hearing that a lot of the supporting vendors here typically charge for at least 2.5 hours of labour, it seemed like a hefty price.

Mark, at Autobahn East, hooked me up with a great maxbimmer price (just about an hour of labour!).

I arrived at his shop yesterday morning bright and early at the opening time (8am). He was already there, and welcomed me in. He was polite and easy going. The shop is small and modest. There's seats, a TV and a coffee machine - standard stuff.

We'd talked over emails before and he knew exactly what I needed. I left my keys with him and left ( but not before seeing him open up the garage door and back out an 850i which belonged to one of his customers, I think).

At 5pm, I got a call on my cell from him to let me know that he'd finished the job, diagnosed my ABS+ASCT light (and went so far as to tell me which exact wheel speed sensor needed replacing).

I'd like to point out that I am 20 years old. My E36 is way far from mint. There's a primer'd area of the trunk where I'm which I've left until better weather to repaint. I look like any other car abusing college student. My car looks pretty sketchy but I received no judgement from Mark. While I'm sure mechanics enjoy working on mintier cars, I didn't get any condescending comments or anything - something I've grown to expect when I bring my car to a german auto specialist.

This morning, I went to pick up the car bright and early again (8am). Mark was already there. Got my keys, a receipt with the bill for the service as well as what he did (took out old starter, found out what was wrong with it, installed the one I supplied, diagnosed my ABS light, included part no. for the item I needed). My car starts up great now.

I got a great price and quick, great service. What more could you ask for? Definitely worth the (short) trip to Ajax!

Yeah Mark's a good guy to deal with.

Inspected all of my Audi & BMW's - Changed brakes on my E90 OEM parts. Very reliable and reputable shop.
