M52 spark plug gap

Hey,

Got some new spark plugs for my m52 today. I went with NKG BKR6EGP, which is a single prong plug as opposed to a 2 or 4 which I believe normally comes on the engine. Looking through the Bentley and online, I can't find any info about how far to gap the plug, because the 2 and 4 prong plugs come pre-gapped.

Anybody know an approximate gap distance I should shoot for?

Thanks,

Andrew

.029", but that's for copper. I don't think you're supposed to gap platinum plugs.

Where can I buy regular copper plugs? I can only seem to find platinum/iridium and I would rather just go copper...

What exactly is the difference between the BKR6E (or BKR6E-11) and the BKR6EIX or BKR6EIX-11?

The -11 is pregapped to 32 I think ... whichever you get, just check the gap. Otherwise they are the same plug.

^ Good to know, I noticed you mentioned above a gap of .029" but I thought for the M52 the correct gap was .032" ... if that's the case the pregapped -11's should be good to go. Just need to look for the correct torque specs. for the NGKs.

Not too tight and not too loose. Sorry, I couldn't resist given the heat outside.

Are copper plugs not pre-gapped? I usually put in NGK BKR6E, single electrode copper plugs.

no... some are.. but as said above they end in -11 or -12... either way it's always good practice to properly gap before putting in new plugs.
