I'm sure y'all seen my posts, shit breaking here and there etc etc. Something new every day, etc etc.
Well, I was going to get a new(er) BMW...that was the plan. But last October, I was like "**** i'm bored and need something new...." . That was followed with a motorcycle course! I acquired my M2 last year. So, I am going to need a car along side the motor cycle that I will be picking up in about 2-3 weeks.
I have a car, so I might as well keep it. Last summer I put brand new suspension components + Bilstein Sport Shocks in the front and rear. Over the winter, my current M50 took a shit. My suspicion is the head gasket, which we all know is quite an involved process to replace. I would rather just replace the engine as that will be the easier route for me. In that case, I got myself an M52B28 instead of an M50, again.
I will have a set of S52 camshafts to replace the stock M52 cams. I thought hey, its out now might as well have my fun with it. After this swap, my e30 will no longer have money invested into it.
M52+S52cams, still virgin sport suspension + motorcycle = not a bad summer coming up huh...lol.
Anyway, this is the intro post to the build thread. Pics to follow...kind of busy now with exams!!!
Stay tuned.

Congrats Rob! I'd hang on to the car as long as you can... I always gave up in the past when things took a sh:t and have lost money nearly every time by starting over. eventually there comes a time when you've got nothing left to replace
So I will start project with these photos. Last summer I did the shocks and links etc in my e30. Barely got to drive on it since I blew up the engine.
The second pic is the car sitting on the new shocks and bologna. Take this look, add an iS lip to it, and an M52 instead of the M50. That's the goal. Pics to come as the swap happens.

stripped down the M52 in prep for OBD1
now i getting ready to pull the M50 out. Its been so long since i've worked on this card, its like looking @ chinese right now...gotta get back into the groove!
im already starting to see the difference between the obd 1 and 2 setup on these 24v engines. carambaaaaaa.
pics to follow!

so i found out why my power steering was no good. the pully, while bolted on literally just popped right out! wow
the valve covers were swapped. the m52 looks like an old engine! yay -_-
clutch i put in looks just as good as it did before.
just swapping obd 1 stuff over, and as you can see the knock sensors don't look in good shape at all.
it is a rather straight forward process...does not seem as difficult as it thought it would.
unlike last time, my car was sitting on a busted shock and therefore gave the car a lower stance. it made for an easy extraction of the engine! this time, with billy sport shocks in place
the car actually sits up higher...making the extraction a hard process. as you can see, i bent some metal!
