Possible purchase

http://www.peninsulaimports.com/?q=vehicle/259

Hello All,

Looking at buying the above E36. I have only owned E46 and E90s so I am familiar with common ailments. Is there anything specific that I should be looking for when I go look at this particular car? It is an automatic, but I don't really care about that because it will be my daily driver.

Cheers...

Biggest major failure point on the E36 is the rear shock mount, so definitely check them out. Other then that, not sure if it was mentioned, check for rust.

I have a feeling this thread is going to get out of control... like the rust on an E36.

Thanks for the replies! YES, I agree, rust is definitely an issue! I went to look at a 1998 328i at Peninsula Imports yesterday, but it sat for so long that it would not start and the hood would not unlock, never mind open...it did have low kms (150)

Hmmm.. being sold "as is". You should definitely try to at least drive it around the parking lot. See if they can let you jump start it. At the very least they should let you look under the hood to verify there's an engine!

Wouldn't start, I think fuel pump is done...hood wouldn't open so that I could at least check the oil...so I left...
