Help me interpret my dyno?
Hi peeps, got my car dyno'ed today at Dynamotorsports. Nice guys!
I wanted a baseline, cause I'm about to add some bolt-ons (Cosmo racing SRI, e-bay headers, high flow cats, and a Magnaflow cat-back).
It's a 2002 330CI, 172K, fresh plugs...all stock engine/exhaust right now.
My dyno came in rather low, to the tune of maybe 25 hp and 20 lbft trq, compared to other 330CI dynos I searched through on the web.
Tony suspects my current cats are the culprit.
I'd love to hear anyone's 2 cents, because this is all new to me.
Thanks!! I'm hoping the upgrades get my stock hp back, and I'd love another 15-20 on top of that. Crossing fingers!

Thanks Jay! I wil just baseline this result and not dwell on the low pull.

Update - Dyno after mods
Update - Rocco @ RMP has a Dynapack setup now Rocco just this week got me set up with my new-to-me-wheels (I found a used set of 2-pc forged DPE's custom made for an E46 330CI, with rubber: ET44, 10" rear wheels with 265 rubber!), and then gave me a dyno, because since the previous dyno above (from Dynamotorsports), I installed a SRI, and Rocco then installed my ebay (which after purchase I had locally ceramic coated) headers and a Magnaflow exhaust sans cats...
The scale along the horizontal is different (Rocco measured time, instead of RPM's...)
I'm pasting a pic of my car at RMP on the Dynapack, and then the new Dyno chart from Rocco....(Rocco also replaced my DISA valve)...
All feedback is appreciated Thanks!

Reason: Misquoted Dynamotorsports name brand...

Get him to change out the "time" reading and put the rpms. I don't know if its how the graph is setup but your older dyno looks a lot more better vs the new one, despite the newer(higher) hp/tq gains.

damn nice one RMP.
and that is probably just how Rocco has the output set up.
He needs to play with the settings to get it reading more "dyno jet" like...like most people do these days with their dynapaks.
its really hard to compare the two how it sits. no two dynos are the same, even if they are the same make.

I agree with above, get a new dyno on a roller, that thing is "different" to read.
From what it looks like on the new one you gained in peak numbers momentarily BUT imo lost over all because that low end torque disappeared and drops off after 4500 rpm where as the first one was strong all the way through and THAT is crucial to have.
So essentially for a brief moment in time you gained hp/tq but lost overall front and top, NOT good. I agree with e30 kid89, Id take the first one all day.
But hey may just be their graph?

It is just the graph, the axis should have been changed to RPM.
We were trying to figure out a big HP loss, and just printed one of the runs.
I will try to post up another graph to show what it looks like with the axis set up differently.

Weird. My car read just as low as your original stock baseline.

^yea my baseline dyno was 186hp on a dynodynamics at the time.
After bolt ons I was at ~225hp, 230tq on that same dynapack from dynamotorsports.
I think your baseline is at par with most stock 330's..

Good to know - thanks guys...dbworld4K - as I mentioned, I stole your idea to colour -match the bottom of the rear diffuser - looks great!
Michel, do you mind me asking what bolt-ons you went with, to get such a healthy gain? That's fantastic.

You should have done a baseline dyno at RMP before the mods.
Right now, those two dyno don't mean anything.
Take it back to the first place and get it done again, that way you can see if there are any improvements.

Indeed, that would have been ideal...but I found out Rocco got his dyno machine and wanted to give him my business. Just to ease my mind and try to get that true comparative before and after, I'll schedule one last dyno with Tony. Boo-Ya!

sure; I had ebay headers, magnaflow cats, schrick cams, dinan CAI and AA tune accordingly. The car had about 125k kms on it and was well maintained. That dyno was done wiht a failing vanos btw, I put in a Dr.Vanos unit the next year and the car felt much more responsive (esp. at the 3k-4k rpm crossover).
