New Style BMW Wheel Locks

Not sure if many know about these, I only recently found out about them. After hearing about recently stolen wheels, these might help a little.

Part#
36-13-6-792-849 SET WHEEL LOCKS MSRP $90.60
You can get them cheaper online or thru Mike @Maranello

Be careful not to buy the ones for the newer X5,X6,F30,F10s, as they are not 12x1.5mm

These have a spinning outer cap, which prevents a simple wheel lock remover tool from grabbing the outside edges and be able to remove it. I'm sure it won't stop a thief completely, but it should slow them down a great deal if they are expecting to easily remove them using a traditional lock remover tool.

Realistically if a thieve has enough time, they will get what they want.

Just be carefull about the fit of these new style wheel locks for aftermarket wheels or older style BMW alloy wheels. The head of the bolts and the key is larger in diameter and they might not fit into the small holes of some wheels.

I have one of these new style wheel locks on my E90. When the tire shop try to install aftermarket wheels and winter tires on the car with these new wheel locks, the key got stuck in the bolt hole and the shop spent a long time to extract them. Eventually, I have to use just regular wheel bolts.

This is true, they are bigger.

I didn't have any problems using them on my CSL reps or OEM Contours, but they don't fit my track wheels D-Force LTW-5s.

Cool. Does anyone know if there is this style (or any type for that matter) of wheel lock available in extended lengths to accommodate wheel spacers? I would be all over these but I am thinking of widening the stance of my car in the near future so I know I will need longer bolts.
