Where can i get my engine rebuilt?

Hey I"m trying to find places in the gta that can rebuild my m20 motor. The engine's pretty beat and has well over 300xxx on it. Also i dunno if i'll be better off just swapping it, or getting it rebuilt. Don't really need a whole lot of power, so if i do swap it'll probably not be for something alot bigger. Anyways if you guys have any advice or can help me out it would be much apreciated.

thanks

For the top end a valve job. Almost any engine place can do that. replace the guides and perhaps the seats if needed, replace and check the wear on all the other stuff... Valves, rockers / shafts, have a look at the springs. This can be anywhere from rasonable 2-300$ or expensive 600+.

First thing i'd do is have the head checked for warpage or cracks, then have the valve guides checked. Replace what's needed and have it all cleaned up and put her back in.

realistically a top end build with new cam, rockers, valve seats ground, valves lapped, new guides, new new valve seals, rockers and resurfacing will cost you about 800.00. Nobody is gonna touch it for 200-300 bucks.

If they check for cracks, clean, resurface, check guides, change seals, reseat the valves. then probably 300.00. But with 300+ ks I'm sure you're burning some oil due to hardened valve seals and a worn guide or two.

Now the block? clean everything, hone the block, check clearances on the piston's, and conn rod bearing surfaces. new rings, new con rod bearings, check for crank wear, new crank bearings. polish crank bearing surfaces, new seals. probably another 500-800

So to get the top end and the block done it'll be around 1500? Would swapping be better option?

not really..you'll probably spend just as much if not more getting everything you need to make the swap. it's not just an engine tranny and harness/dme..and this is if you do it. If you pay someone else. Be prepared to spend double.

I swapped for about $1000. The M50 is a more modern engine and I'm very happy.

24v swap, or just buy an m20 with lower mileage and swap it in.

M20 is nothing special and for the money, I would spend it on getting a lower mileage M50/M52 and put that in. Even if it costs you a few extra |$$ it is worth it.

Ask for Arpi.

Not too far from you, but more importantly, truckload of knowledge and experience, and very, very reasonable. This shop built many motors, including a few very successful and reliable race engines.
He is rebuilding a M20 right now, if you want to swing by and take a look.
People that know (some on this board) will tell you the same.
A 24 v swap will cost you a lot more (if done right) than a M20 rebuild.
You can PM me for more info if you like.

I rebuilt my head in February through Motex in Alliston, pressure tested, decked, replaced valve guides/seals and regrinded the valves, also checked the cam. Great guy (everytime I went cause I had other stuff done too, I would be at his shop for an hour afterwards just shooting the shit, and he had it done in 2 days. PM me if you want to know what he did it for and if you want to contact him.

I had a head redone, needed 6 new valves all new guides, cleaned, decked etc. I even had extra oil journals drilled and the 3 angle valve job on the valves and seats. all for about 340$ If you need rocker shafts, rockers, essentrics, etc... you'll be in for more $$$.

I of course did all the re-assembly myself, and that's where you will save.

For the motor swap it also depends on what you have in the car already. I'm not really interested in moving away from the m20 right now as I just put a new exhaust (headers back).

If you can find a low mileage m20 just do the HG and all the basic seals and it should be fine for 100k till you need to do the belt again.
