The little tank stays empty all the time.
The big tank will only be full if I want it to be. I'll mostly just fill the upper tank when I'm doing a long haul drive. It's only 15L (24LBS of fuel when full) and it's the first part of either tank to empty out. The only thing that's going to kill me is the $95 it's going to cost me to fill up. BMW designed this thing, so it must be safe, right? It's not like I'll be the only e30 to have one. It's arguably safer that being sideswiped on your driver's side and having your fuel lines split causing a fire. If I get rear ended, I'll be lucky if my seat even supports me on contact.

If you say so,I've personally never had a problem once in nearly 30 years of driving with running out of fuel-fuel gauge say look for fuel I pull over and get fuel.
Seems pretty simple to me.

How about this; I have one and you don't That's all I got. Call me strange! Who put a 4 wheel chain drive motorcycle engine in Suzuki Swift?

I've gotta stay ahead of the game... I can't touch guys like Levent or "Meester Pieter", but I want to have the mother of all FS threads one day.
Is that all you got? Some trim rings?!! Where's the Alpina tach stripe or the "tach clock"? I'm diggin' the door handles though, nice touch.
I've gotta find room for the phone!

Aww come on, that tach of yours clearly isn't euro [it dosen't have rear fogs] ....and a [$7] green strip tach sticker is hardly an upgrade, as for the clock [strictly a conversation piece!], why would I need 2 clocks and no tach?
Would love to find one of those spare wheel gas tanks, can envision it being pretty popular at the US & Mexican borders.

I won't be installing rear fogs any time soon, so no need for the euro cluster. I'll take a $7 tach stripe over some Made in China cluster rings any day of the week.
Why do you need a tach, isn't your car automatic?

Yep,I don't have 3 fuel tanks-good thing as I think I'll be leaving the e30 off the road this summer.I have too many things I'd like to improve and not enough time/money to do them all.
My wife picked up a '99 miata for her this year, its really the 1st car she can call her own so w'll put it on the road and leave the e30 till next year. She doesn't want to autox my open wheel car,I have a set of 710's she can run in stock class with.
The chain drive metro worked REALLY well and I didn't lose and arm to a chain or anything.
