All I DO know about that engine is that it is hella expensive to maintain and costs about a bajillion dollars to cram into an E34.
not to mention just buy... THEN u can worry about installation and maintenance..

I think it'd be a nice swap.
A V8 swap will be much cheaper, or a supercharged V6, but the north american engines are very noisy, and I think it will make the car less aesthetically pleasing.
A nice turbo spool sound would be right at home under the hood however

sorry, i was gone..

I have 228000 original miles
been through 16 winters
and been running on the factory battery

my Subaru didn't let me down either, my next car will either be a Subaru or BMW.

I know performance and reliability when I drive it and experience it for myself...i now own a minivan fom toyota, the Sienna, in '98 we got it, nothing but trouble really, the door won't latch and the material is just cheap.

Yes, Subaru and Toyota are both from Japan (i hope). And I think Subaru has some ties with American companies (b/c of 0% financing)..so that may steer me away as to craftsmanship that won't last me like my Bimmer did..

having trouble finding the thread but one guy said they tested a BMW on a dyno 24/7 and it went through two transmissions up to 1 mill miles...when the guys were asked where is the e30 now, they said its being tested for another mill.

if u think i'm an idiot for thinking M power is all that, then so be it, but for those who know my spec, know where i be coming from.

if u want my spec, ask and ill post
who said the 2jz engine wasnt reliable?? i dunno if the sr20 motor is but ive heard from lots of people that the sjz motor is pretty good considering u dont race at every stop light - which would kill any motor

i am not saying it isn't reliable..read my next post.

i'm sure it is for people who have driven it themselves, but I haven't, so i'll stick with what works for me at the moment.

Did you know that the 2jz engine they swapped in the first post to the E34 is also matted to the supra 6-speed GETRAG tranny?!? that would be such a great swap.

The 2JZ-GTE engine is mated with a Getrag 6-Speed in stock Supra's.

That motor is more than reliable and has a bulletproof bottom end that can take up to 24psi stock. It would ruin any BMW in the straights..
