The 3.2 in the TT is a VR6 motor just to be clear.
The 4.2L V8 is stout and other then eventually having to do the guides and chains there really isn't much of an issue with the non DI motors. The DI motor in the RS4 obviously has the issue like other DI motors of the carbon build up. There are ways after a cleaning to help keep it to a minimum though.
As sexy as the RS4 is though with the widebody... the newest S4's with the supercharged 3L is around the same price, is newer, handles better and is faster, and you can get a factory warranty.
Something to think about.
