evap capillary sensor

hey guys. ive had my engine light on for a few weeks now about the .5mm evap capillary leak. this problem usually comes and goes but this time around it hasnt cleared. i replaced my fuel cap with no success, others recommend a new charcoal canister. personally im not sure what that part is for and why its worth changing (cost is a few hundred). meanwhile, id prefer it if my engine light was ready to signal me for something more serious *knock on wood*. so my question is, where is the sensor for this fault? anyway of disabling it? or maybe this idea is completely foolish

The charcoal canister is just another part of the emissions control system in the car. I wouldn't wait for it to get serious since for most the easy fix is a new fuel cap and that already didn't clear up the code. The code is coming up for a reason and just a couple quick minutes online, there can be a whole slew of issues that could easily put you into a lot of repairs. Definitely get it diagnosed to see what's happening.
