Rattle Noise From under the car
So I had a similar noise a few months ago, but all it was, was a useless bracket for the exhaust system. Now a similar noise has returned when my vehicle is cold. I’m guessing I should put the car on some jacks turn it on and see where the noise is coming from? Is this very common with e46’s? It has 170 000 km.
Thanks

It could be any number of things, either put the car up on jack stands and try to find the noise or get someone to check it out for you.
Best thing is usually to put it on a hoist and get it checked out. If you dont have the skill or tools take it into a shop to get looked at. There is a forum sponsor in your area.

Part #6 rusted loose on my car and was rattling. I removed it, but it started rattling in another location until I replaced it with a new bracket. Was #6 what rusted on yours?

#5 is what I first noticed as well. It was actually loose and rattling, so I tried to tighten it and the rusted #10 bolt snapped. #2 was still rattling after that, so I removed it as well for a couple weeks, until I put the new parts on.
In the long run though, you really should replace 2,5,10.

A two second fix, just needed to be tightened.
Only made noise on certain angles. More of an annoyance than anything.

Also, does # 9 connect with #10? #10 looks like a bolt not a nut? Can someone please clear this up!? Thanks alot!

You'll definitely want to replace that bracket. If you go without it, it may lead to the other exhaust supports failing due to extra stress.
I don't have parts #3 and 10 on my 5spd. Do you have an automatic?
I have parts 2 and 9 instead.
2/3 have a welded nut on them, where 9/10 screw into.

Can i just put a nut without welding it? Is this possible to replace my self instead of going to the dealer? I have a 5 spd as well. Can this be done without welding??
