Jesus, you had this for sale for a long time!! I've made arrangements to use my buddy's hoist and welder to install this thing in the spring. The only thing I wonder about is the filler neck fitting weird because of the flares the M3 has... it might sit out too far on a narrow body car? I guess we'll find out soon enough.
I took it from this:
And got it to look like this, just with a pressure washer:
Also, just for the record, seeing as there are very few pictures of this out there, and fewer people who have one for reference (although I talked to Will Z, and he offered for me to come over to check out the one in his race car).
Filler neck:
Sending unit (which will be useless), trunk grommet, and lower rubber filler tube:
So, I think I'll maybe repaint the nasty orange side, and just throw it in the car. Maybe cut up my trunk carpet to fit nicely, and call it a day. I've already replace most of the small fuel lines between the filler and the tank (the ones behind the rusty cover in the wheel arch), so now will be a good time to replace all the ones leading up to the small expansion tank in the quarter panel.
Found the diagrams on realoem:
Should be a fun project!!
