Because you didn't haveXenon's to begin with, you will need to code the LCM as well as wire the AE's.

i may be mistaken but on units with factory AE's you'll only need to replace the bulb, with a blue-ish LED if that's your kinda thing.

Check bimmian and these sorta sites...

Its cheaper to buy new, some of the yards want insane amount for headlights, just get DJ Auto and cheapo HID kit and get it over with, OEM headlights are expensive no matter where you get them from, my euro Hella cost me over $1k when I bought them.

And get BC, there's a lot of E39 guys that are very happy with BC's coil.

The PSS is nice, downside is its only height adjustable, not that its a big deal, but you can't lower it much without riding bump stops on the PSS kit, unless you go to the higher end model but the price quickly climb.

Here are some basic pros and cons for the major brands:

- KW V1
Pros: its KW, so quality is there, and its pretty good when comes to rust-proof, it also rides very well and the dampening is very well.

Cons: it cost a lot, and rear lowers more than the front, the body is not adjustable hence if you lower it too much, you'll ride bump stops.

-Bilstein PSS, PSS9
Pros: Its Bilstein, and PSS is only $1000, PSS9 rides nice as well and handles nice.

Cons: PSS is only height adjustable, PSS9 is $2400.

-ST
Pros: its from KW, just with a "cheaper" brand name.

Cons: non-dampening adjust ability and body is non adjustable.

-Ground Control:
Pros: you can run whatever shocks/struts you want, since its a sleeves kit, and you can choose your spring rates if you know what you are doing, its very well built kit.

Cons: The customer service, took me 3 hrs to order replacement collars, I ran with Koni Yellows, its super smooth on daily, but I felt it was under-damp, some said with Bilstein it feels like their kidneys were about to give out, so its either one or another.

-Raceland.
Pros: Cheap, and the customer service is insanely fast.

Cons: makes you wonder what its made from.

-BC Racing
Pros: Adjustable bodies, adjustable dampening, you can choose spring rates and the shocks are match to the spring rates, it's proven in E39 world, rides well and can deal with some track events, some of the fastest customer service.

Cons: You have to adjust the bodies when lowering, or you may blow the shocks, which can be a pain.

I'm looking into these from Stance come spring.

Momax - if you are upgrading your headlights to the 01-03 model, you can change out the ring bulbs. Have you tried a simple google search? A lot of your inquiries can be solved with a simple search.

ive researched many different options for my headlights and im going with retrofitting them by someone...hes going to put:
2 Bi-Xenon Projectors
2 Custom Projector Shrouds
Double fused/relayed wiring assembly
Full HID Kit (Bulbs & Ballasts) HighQuality
Full installation of all products
Full wiring of all products

and its gonna cost half of what it would cost to get a pair of new 01-03 factory lights

Ask for reference, past projects and contacts for past customers etc, retrofit is not an easy job, if he's only charging $400-500 incld the projectors, that's really on the cheap side of things, unless he's just getting an xenon pre face lifted headlights and put the angel eyes in.

Headlights are not something I'm willing to cheap out on, a crappy retro-fit job means lot of condensations build up and it can look plain hideous, not to mention causing shorts with shabby wiring.
