I got a new toy today.

I'm a sucker fot desk toys. I have a large collection of useless plush toys, Mr. Potatoheads and Nerf toys. I also like to get diecast models for each of the cars I've owned but finding a diecast of an E30 that's not an M3 seemed like an impossible task. But then, I stumbled across a gem. A new in box 325i from 1986 manufactured by a company called Corgi. The quality is typical '80s crap, but I was just so stoked to find a diecast E30 that I had to buy it. The doors and hood open, the seats fold and the steering wheel turns (but the front wheels are fixed. The sunroof also opens and closes.

If you're interested in trying to find one, the part number is C353/9. The last digit is the colour code. C353/3 is red.

Since keeping diecast models in their boxes and not playing with them like a two year old is for chumps, here it is:

Cool. Yours looks different than mine (other than the glaring colour difference).

Thats interesting. Your box says BMW Saloon. Mine says BMW 325i. Yours also looks far more detailed.

Maybe i have to look for that one too.

I don't know actually, I'll take another look when I get home. I thought the same thing too when I looked at this picture, haha. I know it slides back, but I don't know why it's black like that. *(BTW, not to sound like dick, but the moon roof isn't a euro option. You could get it here in North America too... just sayin'). I've got a little Alpina Baur e30 diecast at home too... I'll chuck up a pic of that too when I get a minute.

^^I've got one of everything sitting around, haha, but rarely do I sell anything.

So I checked it out and my part number is C353/1, just for the record. The sunroof is just solid black plastic, but obviously it slides open.

Taking a closer look at both of these models, I've finally noticed what the body kit is. It's not an Mtech 1 kit as I originally thought. It's the early model "Aerodynamics Package" (made by Pfeba) front and rear spoilers (of which I have the same rear spoiler on my vert) and skirt package. Cool!

If you care, this is the 1987 brochure for the aero package with part number and prices:
(worth a look if you're as e30-nerdy as I am)

Also, here's my other diecasts:

Yes I'm a nerd, ok? Leave me alone (wanna see my plastic models?!)

(in Burlington... $20)

I've already got this one, so someone else should jump on this! haha

here are some of 1/24 models that I built.

It's too bad that e30 1/24 kits out there have very poor quality..It's almost impossible to make them look nice unless you cut/fabricate everything.

Very awesome! I adore that Mini.

I used to build model aircraft back in the day, but my painting skills were so weak that they'd just let the whole project down. I kinda gave up but now that I've learned to use an airbrush well, maybe I should give it another go.

There's a really good shop, AVF Hobbies here in London, but I'm not sure that'll help you much.
