I'm not trying to be a downer, different dyno does give different result, some may be less, some may be more, but all within certain amount of differences, a 97 was rated at 282hp at the crank while many have measure 260whp with the drivetrain loss, its almost 300hp at crank, for ur car to hit 368whp, that's equivalent of extra 100whp, even folks with supercharged engines don't hit that mark, I understand the seller claimed 368whp and piece of paper to back it up, but unless u were there at the dyno, I can go print one and say mine puts down 450whp with dyno sheet to prove it, if you can hit 260whp, then I'd be happy, that means its a healthy engine, anything more is a bonus.

Yea i think i was taken for a ride, jus wanted to see from people with bmw experience with regards to how badly i was taken hence the thread...this was the first bmw i bought with no knowledge of the automaker besides most auto reviews saying this is one the best sedans to ever come from BMW...the car is in beautiful condition inside and out not a single scratch and the dash and seating looks and works like new and drives as smooth as a new car from the factory with lots of power when you hit it. I pretty much listed what the seller told and showed me through reciepts and pictures but anything can be faked or duplicated i guess. I bought it for 7200 and surprisingly had an offer for 9 but i still enjoy the car very much so and want to make it a project car and learn more about it. I Personally got it safety'd with no problems and Drove the car about 2000km so far with no surprises so i do believe i at least got a well maintained, well took care of vehicle. The previous owner was a man in his 60's who when i bought the car had a customized corvette and lexus ISF in his driveway which blindly led me to believe what he was telling me. I thank all those who called out everything and even those who were trying to be nice. I hope to interact with you guys some more and maybe someday that number will be true. In the meantime can someone suggest a shop i can goto to find whats really under the hood.
thanks

Eh, I like this guy, atleast he is learning and like Sam said taking it in stride. Momax, stick around, come to the meets once we start up again, you can PM most people on here for parts, tips , etc and we'll get you up to speed, modded up, and you'll be able to fully enjoy the car.

As for some people on here, the harshest talking ones, never even show to meets.

Ask Chigga for most e39 ???, Sam knows his shiz. Same with Fil ( eurostyle)

list of things ppl suggested on this thread

-debadge for cleaner/sleeper look
-black out your chrome trims to make it look less blingy
-refinish your rims so they aren't chromed
( or keep an eye out at the for sale section, good looking rims here go for descent price )
-nice catback exhaust to open up your v8 sound note
-properly done cold air intake with heat shield
-coil overs or lowering springs
- projector headlights from newer e39 model

i think that should give your car a nice face lift

im thinking to start with the badges yes
black out the the front grill and the chrome trim around the windows
todo a resonator and muffler delete( maybe put in a dinan muffler)
and ive inquired to get my rims powdercoated black
all i can do for less than 1000 hopefully without the dinan muffler

there are quite few people/shops here are very knowledge in E39's, but if you are looking for information you can search for, go to bfc's e39 section:

http://forums.bimmerforums.com/forum...play.php?f=202

just about everything on E39 has been discussed there and there's vast amount of information available for times that you want to do your own research, if you read German, you can go on e39-forum.de , they take details to another level.

Don't fall for the Dinan trap, Dinan parts are overpriced OEM parts with their own logo stamped on it, you can get the same if not better parts for less everywhere, search on bfc, there's just about every single exhaust combination possible done on 540's.

Do keep mind on the resonator delete, your car is a pre 99, that means you only have 2 cats instead of 4 that with automatic it will drone you to death on the hwy, you can take out the factory y-pipe and put in another resonator, but I highly suggest you don't remove it completely on your car.

Hair dryer + tooth floss, then remove the left over glue with polish compound.

I don't think you listed the Kms on your car, but for 7200. And the condition it looks fine to me. Just don't make a non M car an M car.

Albeit you could sell those badges on kijiji to another chap!

GL. I'll try to attend some meets this year.
