Oil Indicator

Is it possible for my oil indicator to give me a faulty reading? I just changed it on Friday night and it was full and now it is about 3/4 full...I added a little bit of oil and the indicator did not move...I know that it was freezing yesterday and I'm not sure if the weather played a factor or not...

Cheers...

It shouldn't freeze, it only works when the engine is at operating temp, 110 degrees. It's also not likely that it will give a faulty reading, the sensors can go back though, if they do, they will just not work.

I'm old school in this sense: I like to check the oil manually...lol...

I ended up taking it out for a drive, giving the car some time to heat up and then it read perfectly...
