blackberry playbook
i bought one for 199$.
I was never really a fan of blackberry products and I was skeptical about the playbook. But for $226 tax in, I just impulse bought it.
I must admit I am pretty impressed. Its pretty fast and responsive. The web browser is pretty impressive, heck Id almost put it on par with my interet explorer, cept its a smaller screen etc.
The one thing I am really impressed with is how quick it loads and runs PDFs. Maybe its my PC or windows 7 tablet being screwy or something but the play book opens and browses PDFs faster/efficent than any of my windows 7 devices.
Anyway I am still trying to figure out which apps to get for my play book. If anyones got any good advice for free apps let me know.

I've just got one too and so far so good,, except that I haven't been able to pair it with my iphone 3Gs for data tethering as apparently they'tr incompatible. If anyone has had success with this let me know!

I have a BBerry for work - looking forward to the automatic tethering...

I just set-up a playbook for my aunt on the weekend. Two things I noticed right away that I didn't like. If you want to change your BB ID on the device after you've set it up you have to do a security wipe of the device which deletes any data and apps you've downloaded. Secondly, there's no easy way to connect to a network printer to print emails or documents. Other than that, for the little bit that I played with it it was ok.

I wasn't all that impressed when I was using my buddies... it's OK... but just that.. OK... it's not great... an Android or iPad is far better.

the original ipad is really slow, so you have to compare the playbook to the ipad 2 (both dual core)
Even without the rim employee discount the 16gig one was 199$ all last week. The ipad 2 starts at 519$. Either way, getting hyperterminal or a real serial port on either is completely impratical, so i'll stick with my 4 year old, beaten to shit, dell laptop.

^^ I'm with you on that... I love my Lenovo X301 (and all of my past T-series laptops)...
Tablets are ok, I had a Transformer for a few months while doing testing for deployment for our company and while it was mighty impressive it could never replace my trusty Thinkpad ever.
The Playbook on the other hand is completely "meh" no worth while apps, the new OS is delayed again, no native email application, etc, etc... and it really is meant to be paired with a BB so if you don't have one it becomes even more "meh"
Besides, with the new Quad-core Android tablets that are now out (selling for the same price as the Dual Core ones were) the price of Dual core tables have only one place to go, down.

Yeah I finally got my blackberry playbook to work because I was having a router issue. It's not bad only it lacks the recent updates option in the black berry messenger when you bridge/thread to your blackberry phone

Friend of mine at work used to work for RIM and knows about 10 people still there, he called all of them this week and every single one had already reached their personal limit of PlayBooks.
