Head Gasket

Just picked up a 1997 528i that needs a head gasket. Just wondering how much am I looking at to have it done at a shop? I thought about doing it myself but briefly skimmed through the "Pelican Technical Article" about how to do it and everything seemed feasible up until "Cam timing/Vanos" lol...

Called Bimmersport and was quoted $3500-$4000, wasn't worth it so thinking of a swap from a 328 or another 528...

Got the head gasket done for $650 (gasket, oil, coolant, filters, and 6 hours). Got in touch with an old friend whom has recently opened up shop in Etobicoke. Life saver for sure lol.
