I know I said I wouldn't... But I'm BAAACCCCKKKK....

Gents (and occasional lady),

Years ago I bought a '99 323i. It gave me NOTHNG but grief. I said I wouldn't come back to BMW...

Well - I'm back...

I recently purchased my new-to-me summer car, a black on black 2007 Z4 3.0si. It's a US car, but VERY well maintained and low KM's (only 23K KM's - not miles - when I bought it)

I've been wanting a summer car for a long time and I've saved up for it (not going into debt for a toy!!). My bro in law, who owns a used car dealership, told me about a Porsche 911 he got in that was what I wanted. The price was right, but the maintenance of a 12 year old Porsche scared me. That sparked the search for my summer car. I was toying between a Boxster and the Z4. I asked him to watch for a deal as the season came to a close and voila! deal was had.

Now... Stupid me... I've had the car for all of 5 days and I'm thinking of upgrades....

A few things... Oddly enough, no HID's on this one. Need to get a set of those - perhaps some 3000K for the fogs as well. Gotta talk to some of the boys on the board who sell them...

Number 2 - Windscreen - didn't realized how useful this was! I found this one online, but I'm torn about it - Do you guys consider this cheese or cool? I like it, but could see how it could be cheese...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature...&v=BcxN2HlaEIo

Shoes - I was going to get some, but I think I'll wait to next season...

Some crappy cell phone pics can be seen here... As I know I will get asked!!

I think the windscreen is cool .. never seen it before. Would look great if it lights up when you hit the brakes.

There is a module to do that -

http://www.kingpennindustries.com/WindR/default.aspx

view the video in the bottom right. It stays on, then goes full intensity when the brake is applied.

Oh! And forgot to ask - CDV Delete - What's that all about and should be done?

The windscreen is a must for a convertible but not a fan of that particular one. Congrats on the car.

CDV makes the clutch feel more natural. There is a valve installed in the clutch line, that acts like a compression fitting to slow down the release of your clutch - translating into a smoother transition. Most people are not used to it, and it does not help in performance driving.

What about the same/similar with just the etching and no lighting?

CDV sounds like something I should do - what's it cost to do?

The Clutch Delay Valve (CDV) is something BMW started using them to help prevent damage to the drivetrain by unskilled drivers.

The CDV restricts flow of brake fluid when you release the clutch, in an attempt to force a "smooth" slow clutch engagement no matter how quickly you release the clutch pedal.

If you come from driving a MT Honda for years with no problems then suddenly wonder why you can't drive your new BMW MT smoothly, it's probably because of the CDV. The CDV also screws up heal-and-toe shifting. Zeckhausen Racing sells "drilled out" CDVs to alleviate the problem.

The CDV is very easy to remove on some models, but on my 6 series it was a total pain in the ass to remove.

Yea, I know - that's why I said CDV Delete

I can drive stick, no problem - I do notice that I get a bit more "head bob" when driving the Z4 - from what I'm reading, this seems to be the root cause...

That's cool, the lighting just seems to much like something from Part Source haha.

CDV is not much, and according to REALOEM his CDV is similar to E46 and can just be removed. The one online you posted just is the same part as OEM with the fitting punched out that can be done in house. PM sent.

pls dont throw some pos HID kit into your z4.

The lights are already projectors (just not self leveling).

Complete retro will likely be expensive, I would think...
