Aftermarket Cup Holders?

I've had my E36 for 2 months now and the cup holders are driving me crazy! My car has the removable console bits with the spring-loaded cupholders. These things are useless, they can't hang onto any of my travel coffee mugs. There have been several instances of the mugs falling into the back seat floor area. Luckily the coffee has all spilled on the rubber mat so far and not ruined the mint tan carpet but it's only a matter of time. Are there any cup holder inserts I can purchase that can actually hold a cup? Or maybe a quick fix/mod I can do?

ebay? BMW drivers are supposed to drive at 10-2 or 9-3.. all joking aside I have come to terms that as long as the mug stays in the holder until I reach the GO i'm good.

I don't drink while I drive, but I like to have a coffee when I get to work... hence the mug. These cup holders are next to useless with anything except water bottles and pop cans. I'd like something that can actually hold a timmies large instead of me having to keep a hand on it while I drive.

I know the feeling.. it could be worse, my buddy has an 05 A4, and his cup holders are above the radio.. useless design if you ask me.

I've thought about taking a dremmel to the bottom of the cup holder just to make a large DD form Tims fit.

oh really? so vw golf and the whole family has the same design. My buddy's golf is exactly the same. Those square heads...How are you suppose to adjust the radio with a java sitting in front of it?

I debated buying a $2000 3D printer so I could print my own new cupholders... thats how much it bugs me lol (plus having a 3D printer would be bomb)

I have the fix for the cup holders. That problem bothered me quite a bit as I always have a morning coffee. With some minor trimming with a dremel you can fit a stainless steel cup (after working the handle back and forth til the spot welds let go) from the dollar store in the stock cup holders and then travel mugs and grande americanos fit and don't fall over. An awesome mod.

Holy crap that is awesome! Did you just find those cups at a local dollar store?

Also, what's that LCD for near your cup holders? You modded your coin holder too?

Yes it fits a larger Tim Hortons to go cup snugly...... it can't fly out, I've tried and that is with close to 500 wtq.
