Bidding starts at $900,000

I saw the shell for this car two years ago at RM Auctions. On the way to the Detroit auto show, we dropped in and inquired about the 507...

Hey something to keep in mind... $10,000 in 1960 would be equiv to $180,000+ today so when you see those cars were $10k-$18k when new, they weren't cheap!

I live just down the road from RM, have seen many many of their cars in person. Always worth the tour!

Not really. $10,000 in 1960 is about the same as $73,000 in 2010

What is interesting is that in 1960, the most expensive BMW sold in USA was the BMW 700, retailing at $1600 and the cheapest was the Isetta 300 - $1050. Not only Beetle was more expensive than that, you wouldn't be able to buy a Soviet car for that kind of money.
