Kijiji scam

Okay, I have to share the hilarity.

Woman named "Mirela King" has an X3 on Kijiji for $20,500, about $13,000 below value. I sent her a couple of emails asking to see the car but she claims she's in Marathon but she can send the car to me within 24 hours with a 5 day inspection period using eBay Buyer Protection Plan.

I know it's a scam but I want to see where this goes so I asked for her phone number so I can talk to her. Her reply:

"as much as I want to speak with you over the phone prior to move forward with this transaction, I can't, I have a physical problem in communicate and I hope you'll understand me because it's a long story anyway and one of the reasons for selling. however, we can meet face to face when I'll be back home again and have a chat then. you're close to buy my car (in case you like it) so, we'll be connected somehow. on second thoughts, I will definitely contact you when I'll be back home, just to be sure my car ends up on good hands. now, just to confirm with you, eBay will send you the invoice by email and you'll be able find there all the contact forms to speak directly with one of their representative about this transaction so, no need to worry about speaking with someone directly, it's your decision. They will take care of this sale instead of me, they have all the information and I'm sure you'll gonna understand everything much better once eBay will get in touch with you directly."

I can't wait to see the invoice.

So many of those ads up....I always red flag when I see a pic of the car with no plates or ad just gets listed them seller suddenly gets deployed to afganistan....

I usually reply with a "I am independently wealthy- in the spirit of co operation I'm willing to take my private jet anywhere in the world to pay you in person"..... that usually shuts them up.

They always spoof the address of ebay (no real ebay email ever comes).

Tell her you're actually going to marathon in 2 weeks and will pay cash!

yea marathons not actually that far, so its not super unrealistic.

I was in the market for a jeep a few months back, and literally every second one i messaged was a scam. Most of them was the same story, " I was shipped out, so send me moneyss and my gf will drive it to you" or the " Im in another country but my parents own a freight company and can have it shipped any where".

I told her I have a friend who lives on a nearby reserve named Nanook. He's coming to Marathon tomorrow and will look for her car. There can't be too many BMW X3s in Marathon.

Exactly, photo of a car with no plates + no phone number + way below the market value = always a scam.

Not only that, but Ebay Protection Plan doesn't work with the purchases outside of the Ebay

What's the point? It's just a waste of time. The scammer will start ignoring you, so it's a waste of time. Just flag the ad and move along.

lol, why would the scammer put their real location? and real car?

You could easily check by asking for the VIN.
