Bremsbelag-Verschleiss light blinking
This little bastard blinks sometimes, increasing frequency with speed. Any ideas why my brake lining wear light would be following speed intermittently?

The only thing it could possibly have to do with speed, is the vibration, possibly from a loose conection where the sensor is plugged in. It's not supposed to blink (as you know), so either your pad sensor is just about to wear our, or it's coming loose at the connector. I'd lean towards the latter of the two.

So this pad sensor is on the caliper some place?
Edit 1 id some looking at parts diagrams and found a pulse generator and pad wear sensor. I'm assuming the pulse generator is for the ABS and pad sensor must be wired to the bremsbelag-verschleiss light? If i disconnect this pad wear sensor will my light go away or go constantly on?
Edit 2: NVM, it needs to be shorted.

I had the same problem with mine. I noticed it would flicker with vibrations and bumbs in the road. I found it easier just to ignore it. But that may be what caused me to rear end a car on the highway and write off my car..... Hope this helped!

keep pulling fuses till you find the right one........
[serious]....my guess is your emergency brake backing plate [the " thingy" that holds
the emergency brake shoes] is "disintegrating as we speak!! Look around there...I'll bet this adds a lot of insight

Thanks for the suggestions. I do recall when I had the car saftied the mechanic said the pads and rotors should be replaced soon. But that doesn't explain why it sometimes flickers and sometimes doesn't and follows speed. I'll probably just disable the whole system since every other car I've ever had didn't have a brake pad warning system and I never managed to grind my pads all the way down. That bit about the e-brake plate disintegrating is worrying though.

I just had the same problem on the back of my e36. The wear sensor wire were it connects to the actual wear indicator on the pad was corroded and almost broken off, so sometime it had enough contact and sometimes it didnt. Just shorted it and problem gone (pads had lots of meat left).

^^Exactly. Disconnecting it will put the light on all the time. Cutting it (opening the loop - which is what happens when the rotor wears the sensor away which turns the light on properly), stripping a bit of the sheathing, and twisting the two wires back together shorts/closes the circuit and turns the light off. E30 fix it.

That's the plan, just turning them off completely. I just don't want to disable the light if it's warning me of some other problem.
