02 325iT - suspension cost

Hello All,

I've recently bought a 02 325iT and i need to change my front struts.

I'm curious as to how much I can pay for a complete set of struts/shocks for my car. I am looking for the same ride quality as the BMW sports package.

Since I don't have the necessary tool or help to do the swap I will have to find a garage to do it. Or would someone here able to do/show me how to do a suspension change?

Thanks!

Here is a link to my car

its not that bad. All depends on what you want.

http://www.autopartsway.ca/PartList..../pagenum1/tabS

160ea-350ea depending.

You could probably get koni inserts for less($1xx ea) but that is slightly more work than simply bolting in new part.

You would benefit more if you seek help from people who actually drive same cars as you have and not those who just know some things and blurt them out.

You dont need to change the springs unless they are broken (fronts will never break but the rear springs on these cars break all the time). I would ONLY recommend getting new shocks/struts+ new top front mounts as well as new rear shock mounts.

ALL OEM, you would think that aftermarket is better but it isnt. It may be better for some things but it SUCKS overall.

Here is a good link http://www.ecstuning.com/BMW-E46-325...ension/Shocks/

You dont need to buy sport springs, just get sport shocks and your car will be back to new again.

A shop will charge around $500 to get it done and it should include an alignment.

I was just quoted 1250 for all four with alignment at bimmex.
he said these will be oem parts and warrantied for 2 years.

I am still looking. If I can get everything done for 1000 that doesn't seem too bad?

Thanks

Bimmex does good work, the other option is to buy the parts what he quoted you from Mike at Marenello (max member gets a discount) and get Bimmex to install, that might bring it down to $1000 or less....Price it out.....

Thanks for the info.

I will be getting quotes from RMP and Stance factory before proceeding.

I would prefer Stance Factory as they are much closer to me

Aftermarket parts are nothing trouble for a street and daily driver car, been there done that.

That link was just a reference. And they do sell original parts in there if you look closely.

I said a shop would charge around $500 to get it done, meaning installation. Parts cost depends on what and where you buy. Do you have difficulties understanding English ?

I got quoted 1290 for front shocks, rears, rear trailing arm bushings.

For this price I can either have sachs or blistien sport.

I know bliestiens are stiff but are they uncomfortable than BMW sports?

Given the two choice. Which would be the better idea??

Thanks

Aftermarket parts are not a good idea for a daily driven car. They make the car uncomfortable, unreliable and unpractical. Anythings thats aftermarket is crap in my eyes, I've given myself SO much time and afford to see the potential in aftermarket parts on a street/daily car but I dont see any, apart from making the car "look"
good.

I'm pretty sure I've tried every single aftremarket part that there is for E46 on both my E46s(none of which were cheap chinese parts, all were known brand "quality" and expensive parts) and all I can say , ITS all crap. Makes the car look good but does more harm then good to the car itself.

You dont think I havent done it? All you guys want to do is to recommend this guy some bs, buy koni, buy this and that. This guy doent even know what he is getting into, all he want is to restore his BMW back to shape. Next thing you'll tell him is to buy coils and such.

If you can read English then you dont need to be told it was for labor only, any monkey can understand what I meant in my previous post.
