alternator belt how to
OK, so maybe everyone else knows this, but just in case. Last night I needed to take my alternator belt off to see which idler wheel is squealing. So I used to use pry bar to move the tightener in order to loosen the belt. All the while I'm thinking there has to be an easier way as this is really a PITA. As it turns out there is... I was in the process of removing the fan to get access and if you turn the fan nut to the right the belt loosens enough to slip it off the alternator.
Putting it back on is as easy, just get all of the belt on except the alternator pulley and move the fan pulley with the wrench and it slips right back on.
As I said, maybe everyone else knows this, but I didn't, so hopefully this helps someone else.
