Part no longer made, need some help guys.
Have an 84 318i and i have tried a lot of places including BMW Canada and they say the part is no longer made. I need the supply and return lines for the auto tranny cooling. Mine rotted out. This is not a wanted ad, I am asking all of you guys a favour to see if you can help me locate these lines, used or new. My car has a build date of november 83 and it looks like this is the problem as the part was changed shortly after. It is basically two hoses with banjo fittings on the ends. it was suggested that i have the banjo fitting fixed but i have found other problems with the lines that cant be fixed. It was listed as part number 17 22 1 177 813 for the return line, not sure for the supply. Thanks for any help guys, i am hoping you can come through for me here.
cheers

If you cant find it, make it!!! Not too hard to use an aftermarket cooler, or even use a OEM type cooler and join to the existing lines you have.
You just need to be creative...

I don't believe so; remember your car was probably the very first e30 model to arrive in North America in the mass production sense. Bmw was quite small at the time and was considered quite elite. e30's put bmw on the map of production and sales. so chances are trying to get parts for such an early model will be quite difficult. Unless, as stated you find a place that can fabricate some for you and custom make them. I'm surprised you haven't done that by now..lol.

Yes and no...Some parts are already not available from BMW, but you can still find aftermarket or used! In the the case of very specific car such as an auto 318i almost 30 years old, it can be hard! Even E36 92/93 specific parts are getting hard to find!

I don't know offhand if Princess Auto has banjo fittings, but I bet if they did, they could make you a hydraulic line that would work for what you need it for. A bit overkill though lol.

Try your local farm dealer. Case IH and New Holland use Banjo style lines for there hydralics. hopefully you can fab something from that. Good luck.

Done.
BMW is better than any manufacturer I've dealt with when it comes to keeping parts available for the old stuff. I just ordered a new fuse box cover for the '73 2002: $9 or something like that. Amazing...just try to get parts for a '93 Vette.
