problem with dash lights

first thing first is the alternator charging???? cause i no some cars when first started all lights are on till u rev to like 1000 rpms, than lights stay out. So check to see if it's charging put it on the battery terminals when the car is running

Tested my first alt -bad
Tested the alt on the car which was rebuilt - good when no acc are on but goes into the red once the lights are on. Suspect either the voltage reg isn't working properly and the belt is worn. My buddy suspects it's the belt as the lights go out when the revs are up.

I'll be changing the belt once the sun drops a bit..damn hot out..lol

changed all the belts; still I get lights. After testing at buddy's place it charges but barely until I put acc on; But! none of this has been affecting the battery life. so it must be charging but perhaps something inside the alt is causing the lights to stay. Anyhow, rebuilding my alt tomorrow.

problem solved; changed the alt for another rebuild and lights are out. thx for all your input everyone.
