Angry Gas prices in Saudi Arabia... Did you know ?

Did you know that gas prices are so cheap in Saudi Arabia that they leave thier cars running all day long with the Air conditioning on, so that when they are done work, and head home, thier cars are nice and cool inside ?

Jeez. Must be nice.

That's incorrect. Nobody works in Saudia Arabia, so there is no need to run your car while you are at work.

Did you know that gas prices are so cheap in Saudi Arabia that they water their plant with a mixture of gasoline + of trinitrate sulphite(to neutralize the harmful effect of gasoline). Water is scarse there.

actually - I have lived in Saudi Arabia for about 2 years. Gas is cheap and in fact water is more expensive. It is fetch that they leave their cars running for all day. However, if they are parked for about 30 mins or so, they will leave their car running. And I do not blame them because if you park in the open sun or even in the shade, during mid day, you could fry an egg on the car roof. I use to keep a towel in the car and and sprinkle water on it before getting in - otherwise BBQ butt. ouch !!

Not a matter of starting but rather keeping it running with the air conditioning at full blast to get the interior to cool down. It is very common to find cars with cracked dashboards.....

LOL yeah, Jim Kenzie talked about that a while back, when gas was approaching a buck. He said he was at the pump and some woman beside him was whining about the gas price. Then she came back from the gas bar with a $2 500ml bottle of water.

I guess people dont look at it like that. See, what's 500ml water bottle at 2$ to satisfy your thirst versus 50$ to satisfy the cars thirst?

Cognitive dissonance

when above posts say water is more expensive in Saudi Arabia than gasoline do you mean their bottled water or tap water is more expensive?

Average water tariffs range from US$0.06 to US$0.10/m3, which are among the lowest in the world.
