Anyone dealt with an E39 540i auxiliary water pump

I have developed a leak on mine. Prices seem to be in the $400s for a replacement part.

Not sure if it's set up the same as on an E34, but if so you can just bypass it.

It depends what year. They have 2 types. Never seen a problem with the old type, altho the VALVES tend to go...but pump i have seen in the high 300K, all worked and no leaks. Chances are a good used one will outlast your engine!

Hey Dado, mine had a leak but it stopped as misteriously as it started. My E38 740 buddy David fixed his auxiliary water pump and if has been good for a coupke of years now. His instructions were simple, take apart the auxiliary water pump and reseal by applying RTV to the mating surfaces, put part back togeather but do not tighten the bolts all the way, wait as per RTV instructions for the sealant to setup, then tighten to spec.

Try it what do you have to loose.
