Need advice on carproof report

I'm looking into an E46 m3, I have already checked it out and it seems in pretty good shape and I was hoping to finalize the deal after the pre-purchase inspection which is scheduled for tomorrow (thurs). BUT, I just ran a Carproof on it and some things in the record have come up that are puzzling me a bit, here is the relevant part of the report:

It seems that the car was registered in the US between 2005 and 2008, would this be cause for concern? Also, the mileage reported in 2005 is approx. 70,000miles while the reported mileage in 2010 is 110k whcih would be less than the above, the car currently shows 147k. Also there seems to be a title record 12/06/2006 which I'm not sure what it means.

Also please let me know if there is anything else that seems fishy as I am no expert in reding these reports.

Thanks in advance,
Arash

Do you also have Carfax to see if any records turn up there?

Looks like he cancelled his CND insurance in sept 1 2006 and moved to Indian Wells CA
in Nov 2006,came back in Sept 2008,thats where he did his emission before he can re-register....

No record for year 2007?

The info, just showed where the car has been, you should be more concern of any accident or collision that should be in either Carproof or Carfax reports....

These carproof and carfax reports are not always accurate. I wouldn't rely on them too much. I have seen cars there that i knew were in an accident but showed up as "clean". I know this wasn't your question, but thought i would say something.

Please correct me if I'm wrong but unless you change your speedometer to the one that reads Miles on it, you will not be able to register Canadian BMW in US.

Nonetheless, too many things going on with it, I'd pass.

Mind sharing the asking price?

I've registered my US m3 with the US speedo, no problem.

There are plenty of reasons for cross registrations between Cda & the US. For all you know the owner may have been transferred to work in the US or had a job contract in the US.

Most impt is accident records and overall condition of the car imo.

You dont get it do you.

You can register US cars in Canada because they have both miles and kms on teh speedo. But Canadian BMWs have kms ONLY. And since US is an imperial country you would need an imperial Speedo to get it registered.

See what Im taking about?

what happened is who ever read the mileage in the US thought the speedo was in Miles, and did not convert.
and NO you do not need to convert to a US cluster going to the US and, no you do not need to convert to a Km/H cluster comming to canada

You need to convert to KN to register in Canada. Not necessary changing the speedo as long as something shows KM.
The gap thought is hard to say how closely the inspection was done on KM vs. Miles. Once it is registered the rest would be pretty loose.

Meh, all the paper works means nothing if the car doesn't check out in real life, and car-proof isn't 100%, when I bought my car, it showed that it changed owners 4 times on January 1st 2002, no MTO branch is open New Year's day, and how it changed owners 4 times in one day is beyond me.

Inspect all mechanical parts carefully, if its good, it can have any title in the world for all I care, not to mention, I've seen countless cars with salvage title in much better shape than so called clean cars.

oh lord, i knew i should not have bothered posting this

but you do NOT i have imported alot of cars, and there is no need. If the speedo is in MPH only, you get a sticker from RIV you are supposed to stick to the cluster as a warning
