WOW... Mazda Dealership...

I'll try to make this long story short...

So I took my wifes Mazda 3 to Agincourt Mazda... Ended up paying $106+tax for them to diagnose the check engine light - already felt ripped off I hate dealerships.

So the following day I had a shorted MAF wire replaced:

INVOICE:
Labour $119
Parts $14.79

Total with Tax - $151.42

Everything was fine, I paid and left with a reciept for payment in full of the $151.42

TODAY, ONE WEEK LATER... MY WIFE GETS A CALL FROM A SERVICE EMPLOYEE WHO WANTED HER TO PAY AN ADDITIONAL $11.47 BECAUSE HE HAD PUT IN THE WRONG NUMBERS ON THE INVOICE.

After establishing that this wasn't a joke, she pulled up the invoice and explained to the employee that it was all in writing and that we wearn't going to be paying. The employee got very irritated and stated he would just pay the difference out of his paycheque.

We called back and spoke to the manager of the service department who requested that we fax or drive all the way down to the dealership and show him proof of the invoice.

Needless to say we refused to pay the additional $11 and expressed our concern re: the way the dealership was handling their $11 error

I still can't believe this LOL.

Has anyone ever had this experience with a dealership?

That employee hopefully learned his lesson. That precious 11 dollars will teach him to do his job properly next time.

What a douchetron of a dealership though.

I thought someone was playing a terrible joke...

... once she spoke with the manager who was set on getting the $11 I was speechless.

LOL. I wonder how many people they actually get to pay extra weeks after the work is done.

Can they even do that? You already paid the invoice in full and signed off on it.

for $11, a service advisor/ manager with initiative.. will just "eat" it..
to place a call and explain the situation will cost more than that amount...

so you spent more than $250 plus dollar then......

The total we paid was

$119 for diagnosis of the problem (plug in laptop and check code on check engine) - which they do for free in the US

$151 for the part and labour.

You could've gone to any independent shop with a ODB2 scanner and had this done for $30~$40 at most.

Shops I go to do it for free.

So we tried an independent shop - they said that the code could mean any number of things.?

We then took it to Midas (who usually does our oil changes) and they scanned it for free. The mechanic explained that the code was too general, and that the dealership may have the ability to narrow the code down. \

Dealership scanned it and knew what it was right away (maybe its a common Mazda 3 issue?)

Anyways... thx for the replies all
