anyone close to hamilton with code reader?

Hey just wondering if I could stop by someones place to scan my car quick. check engine light came on and now have trouble starting. runs fine once it's on...thinking its a sensor or something not getting the right reading.

I have the e46 peake research scan tool but not the adapter for it to fit my e36 yet

bought a code reader, needs a new camshaft position sensor.

is it bad to drive it with this? it's only giving me a bit of trouble starting.

chances are nothing will happen as its running off a default table of values of estimated crankshaft positions. fuel economy may/will go down and you do risk some damage but not progressively only if it hiccups IIRC. recommend you change it asap nonetheless. Warning: Generic scanners are pieces of crap for bmw. Ive had them tell me to replace my oxygen sensors, when in fact it was a severed vaccum line under the hood. 5 dollar fix. ive got bmw factory software, and i live in oakville if you need a scan just pm me, won't cost you anything maybe a couple beers.

thanks mate. I replaced it later that week, got one shipped from pelicanparts.com. So far so good on the code reader though, that was definately the problem.
