clicking noise under glove box

Hey everyone,

I was trying to sync my convertible top on my 97 328i last weekend and when I pushed the button to put the top up a clicking sound started to come from under the glove box and the top didn't go up. Also when I put the windshield wipers on (which I discovered thanks to this lovely tropical weather we've been having in Toronto lately) the same or similar clicking noise comes from the same area. Anyone have any ideas of what it may be?

So just in case anyone was wondering. I haven't discovered the clicking noise however I did fix the top and I believe the clicking noise is unrelated. Turns out the vert top module was fried so I picked up a new one and installed it.

sounds like there could be a relay under there. Pull your glovebox and have a look.
