E36 Car Door Dent

I am looking to knock out a couple of dents from the inside of my drivers side car door. Before I attempt this (I have a Haynes manual), I want to ask

1) Is removing the door trim panel difficult? Is there any kind of specific caution/tool I should use? I remember my civic's interior trim panel was very brittle plastic and although I had removed all of the door panels at least once, one of them cracked a little on me during one of my attempts at removal. It was heartbreaking and annoying but luckily it was a small crack.

2) The dents look like they were caused by swiping a pole or being hit by another car quite gently. Besides using a rubber mallet + Block of wood, does anyone have any other tips for PDR?

Thanks!

pics would be nice. i hear great things with using hair dryer, or combo of ice pad+tin foil+butane torch to pop out dings or depressions.
