Do you need a cat to pass an e-test?

I took my cat out when I replaced my exhaust. Now its time for an e-test.

The engine is in excellent tune, no smoke or anything. I always use synthetic oil every 5000km.

I also only use 94 for every tank full.

Catalytic converter is what lets you pass. Why do you think cars have cats?

Poster above me needs to find the difference between cats and resonators.

no cats = no pass. Even with some of the aftermarket high-flow cats out there, you may still not pass.

I was told by the mechanic at the shop that it should pass.

Does anyone "know" somebody where I can go?

^ good luck getting a hot test. they are hard to come by as the penalties are severe if your caught. expect to pay good money if you do find someone.

Lol hate to echo but everyone here is right...no cats = no pass. think it'll be cheaper to put a cat on vs getting a test from somebody you "know"

........Haha @ resonators having to do with emissions!

Damn catalytic converters are expensive, but you will most definitely need one in order to reduce your emissions levels within Drive Clean's acceptable limits.

not necessarily true. a lot of them can pass when new...but typically have about a yrs life span. after that they dont work very well at cutting emissions.

I hope OP kept is OEM cat. you always keep your oem cat. those are $$$$$$$$ and work the best/last the longest.

total fail if you ditched it/gave it to the shop etc. but I wouldnt be surprised given this thread in the first place.

You don't need to know "someone" to buy an e-test these days. It is quiet common 300$ anywhere, just go to an e-test place and ask they'll tell you 3 bills, leave the ownership, pickup at the end of day.
