Question The Black Box

I am wondering if our cars have a "Black Box".

The reason I am asking is that last night I was watching the news and they was covering a car chase, and of course it ended in the death of two people, the driver and passenger.

So the police stated that they did not know how fast they was going but they would have to recover the black box from the car (2006 Honda civic, there was nothing left that was recognizable)

So do our cars have a black box? and where is it? can we access it?

Let me know what you know or think.

No black box has such, the info is pulled from the Air Bag module which will store road speed, impact g's and deceleration.

There is a separate program above the dealer equipment available that can pull this information. I have done some in the past.
