2000 328i chokes

Hi,

I have a 2000 328i and over the past few months i've been having a problem with it while idling. It usually happens in the morning when I start the car to warm it up on cold days. The car shakes and the RPM drops and sometimes the car shuts down. If i give it a little bit of gas when the RPM drops the car is okay.

any ideas?

Appears to be a compression issue of some form. I had that once in a previous non-BMW car at turned out to be a vacuum hose was cracked and leaking.

had the same problem in my 2000 328i last year, it was a small leak in the power steering, not too sure how that is causing the bad idling and start but got it fixed and the problem went away.

is there someway i can check for the leaks on my own or do i need to bring it into a workshop?

the leak for me was very noticible, over night i parked in the garage and in the morning there will be a few drips of fluid on the ground.
