It could've been a "Ci" from the mid '90s.
The coveted 850CSi wasn't available in Canada due to not meeting Canadian emission standards. A shame really.

The license plate was not the issue. Although, "M8" would be fitting for a CSi indeed.
Regardless, whether it's a CSi or just a plain old "i", an E31 is a sight to behold.

My wife had a beautiful 850i; we lived in London then.
We took part in a great group of posters, run by Paul Michael Brown out of Washington DC. There were many, many hints that made ownership fun. Without those we would have been at the mercy of the dealer.
What an incredible car!

100% positive on the plate...and 90% sure it actually said CSi.
i had no clue they were that rare. I wouldve rolled my window down to ask some questions . doh!
Ill have to keep my eyes open and do some trolling on some other forums
