kill a rabit or ?

This whole big life dilemma im facing now. relates to this question.

Driving down the road going about 60-70 at night with a car behind you not too far. You see a rabbit jump infront of you with absolute zero time to react.

Do you slam your brakes with a chance of getting rear ended bad or do you kill the rabbit?

This has always bothered me because I've come across animals and ALWAYS swerved or braked, noone is ever around me when it happens but I've caught myself braking excessively or crossing the line to avoid it. THen I thought, holy shit what if someone was in the other lane or behind me? Would I have done the same thing? I'm afraid that my reflexes will overbear my logic/thought process one day and I will cause an accident when there's other people around me.

if it's bigger than a large dog (ie a deer) avoid it, otherwise, people have died from cars in front of them avoiding small animals. I will feel bad for a few minutes if I kill a rabbit, I would never be able to stop thinking about the person who died as a result of me avoiding a small animal.

Just my 2c worth

Zero time to react.... keep on driving at your current speed..
rabbits are fast and will avoid getting hit...then to do a sudden brake
and be rear ended and go through all the incovenience...

and you know what.. thats not the 1st time that rabbit jumped in front of cars...lol

how about... same situation but with a mother duck walking her 5 or 8 ducklings across the road? If you feel bad about killing one rabbit, how about an entire family of ducks?

If it's safe, I'll try to avoid, but with zero reaction time (as stated), I'd defintitley just keep driving. Sucks to be the rabit. Same for a cat ... a dog I would try a lot harder to stop or swerve.

Only thing I'd miss is a person or deer (or larger like a moose). Other then that, I hope it moves outta my way when I'm hurling down the road. Also, if she dumped you for that after 4 years, wonder what else she'd dump you for?
