Thats right! 330 does burn alot more oil... be prepared to add 1 quart approx every 1k

No oil burning issues here though

330 has a little more "pep" but only if ur pushing it hard...otherwise on everyday basis 325 feels exact same as 330(of course given that both have their vanos units refreshed with new rings)

That's odd, I don't have to add 1 quart every 1000km in my 330. So either I have a 325 or you guys are basing your 'facts' on the 330s you've heard about with faulty CCV systems...

I would definitely go with the 330 for a few reasons. The primary one being that it has more power and better brakes...

A few things to consider that I have had to deal with (and probably everyone else who owns one...lol)

1. Burns oil...
2. I have gone through 3 ball joints on my driver's side already since I have owned the car...160 kms...
3. Burns oil...
4. Control arm bushings...
5. burns oil...
6. occasional cluster lights...etc...

I am not complaining, love the car...but something to consider...

I love both but always wish for more power .. the 330 does feel more powerful and does sound like its working a lot less when you push it (less screaming from the engine)

I know you're talking E46's, but I'm actually looking an E90 323 vs E90 328. I've had both as loaners from the dealer. Both fine cars...the 328 has little extras, just that much more power when you get into the pedal and is a better highway cruiser. Fuel consumption on the highway is almost identical cause it's not screaming.

The E46 325 vs E46 330 sounds similar. I see a ton of 325's on my daily commute.

Mine consumes about 1L every 4000kms. And even at that I'm going to change the oil filter housing gasket and ccv next weekend. Are you guys sure you're burning it and not leaking it somewhere?

Hmm, some of the things mentioned are good to know! The help is appreciated

i'm guessing that maintanance isn't much more costly on the 330's since it's just displacement and larger brakes that are the main difference? Am i right or wrong on this?

i guess that would also depend on how often you need to pour in a quart
