BMW Concept M5

Coverage of the 2012 BMW M5 F10 on WCF first began back in 2007. It started with test mule spy photos and then after the launch of the F10 5-Series, full body spy photos along with small bits of information on the new super sedan surfaced from "inside sources" as well as from BMW bosses themselves.

Moving into the final stretch, BMW started releasing winter testing teaser videos a couple of months ago with the first reveal happening just a few days ago in Munich at a closed event for select journalist. Unfortunately, those journalist who attended had to trade their ability to report these leaked images for the privilege to be one of the first to witness the M5 in the metal.

At this Munich event, BMW also revealed several stillborn M projects as well as other unique one-offs such as M3 pickup.

No confirmed details have surfaced yet with these image, but the media release is expected on April 7th followed by the public debut at A

For some reason I think not there yet, but it certainly reminds me of the sharknose e24 (although that is/was a coupe).

May be I owned both and seeing what I want to see

I guess to each their own but the way I view it as posted by another comment on comparison:

The E60 made the E39 look outdated instantly.

The F10 does NOT make the E60 look outdated instantly.

The interior is a giant leap forward, though.

Pros F10:

-integrated fender grill/signals much improved over e60
-more aggressive hood
-more streamlined rear
-increased side profile character

Cons:

-entire front end falls "flat" from side profile, e60 front end nicer
-side skirts leave much to be desired compared to e60
-wheels are atrocious, definitely do not belong on an M5, maybe a civic or some teenagers beater
-rear reflectors look awful, breaks up the whole rear

meh, not too impressed......also come on, no matter how many turbos you put on the v8, I would take the legendary sound of the v10......NA > turbo

This is pretty much how I feel as well. Also, without the V10 I really don't care about this car at all. X6Ms and X5Ms don't have an appealing sound to me.
