Help: Bbs style 5 wheel bolts/ nuts

Hey guys,
I've got BBS Style 5 bolts that go around the barrel that bolt up to the mesh..whats the best way to refinish the bolts/ nuts so they don't rust or anything?

Any idea's? thanks

good question, I want to know too as ive been told dont order the RS bolts from BFI they will corrode within a month.

Also RS bolts dont fit correct as they are not splined like the style 5 bolts were from factory.

I just finished mine. Don't think there is anything you can do about corrosion on the spline or threads seeing as you cannot coat them with anything other then thread locker. I just pull mine apart every season and polish them up

Hmmm, i dont care about corrosion on the threads cause you cant really see that once the rims are put together but i dont want the heads of the bolts to rust and the rust to leak or appear on the barrel...etc if you know what i mean.

thats what happends to bfi bolts. the whole headof the bolt goes to pot and rots out.
there cheep bolts and most people use them as replacements.

Id just get your stock bolts refinished or painted. they are ment for the style wheels.. getting replacements from company like bfi you will be sorly mestaken less than a few months later..

Im going to need to do mine soon also so let me know how refinishing yours works out...and where you end up going.

Some say to nickel plate the head of the bolts and some say to paint them with some metallic paint and clear coat them..

Right now, my bolts are stripped to metal and used a wire wheel to polish them up a little

but if you dont cover them in clear or something wont they just corrode really fast again?

That's possible and i dont want to take the risk of that, that's why i posted this thread to begin with. LoL. But I know for a fact i wont leave them the way they are now..I'll probably clear coat them if I dont get any other advice because the rims gotta go on at the end of this week.

Just order new ones, chrome plated will never rust and always bling and might turn out cheaper than coating the originals

yes but where can he or we order new ones??? I need bolts also and im thinking the same things about price in refinishment.

I know you can get them from wokke.De but that's not where I got mines from I'll have to search for the bill at home hopefully I still have it I know the website is retro-something wheels or rims not sure

It is a pain and it's all to do with the press fit ribs on the side of the shank between the threads and the head its a really unique bolt. if you guys decide to rebuild them your selves freeze the bolts before putting them on it will shrink the bolts allowing for easier fitment also try to re alighn the ribs of the bolts to the grooves on the holes on the wheels ( hope that makes sense to you guys )

Also, do i freeze them before i refinishing the bolts or does it not matter?
